Residencies, Education and Collaborations
I have worked extensively with schools and community groups with participants of all ages. Projects have ranged from a year long maths residency in a special school, to creating a 3 metre high cake at an Arts festival in a weekend. I have worked on several Big Draw events in art galleries and delivered one-off sessions with nursery children. In rural Warwickshire I created an outdoor installation to commemorate the Golden Jubilee with the residents of a small village, and on the outskirts of Birmingham had a residency running arts activities with visitors to a Community Led Library and then created an artwork in response to my time there, which is permanently sited in the library. I've worked with a Polish School making a massive Polish Pajacki chandelier, created walking silhouettes for an infant school entering the Britain in Bloom competition, and designed and made a tapestry for Black History Month with a West Indian Association.
When running workshops and residencies I use very similar materials to those I use in my own work. I love facilitating sessions, and encouraging everyone to have a go. I really believe everyone can be creative, and I focus on the process and experimentation and the taking part. If you have an idea for a project and would like me to help you create an artwork in your local community or setting, I'd love to hear from you - Please get in touch.
