The Joy of Being Naked -
Part of the Army of Joys Collection
Audrey and Flux found their home was warming and being overtaken by new unfamiliar creatures. Usually hidden from view by their camouflage, they were uneasy about standing out in the emerging forest. The creatures saw their distress and plucked some feathers and fur and gathered some blooms to help disguise them. Audrey was happy, but Flux was young and preferred to be naked.
The polar bear is a discarded toy, embellished with collected feathers, textiles, jewellery, dried flower components and beads. I have also dressed them with decoupage, paint and silver leaf. The base is wooden and has been covered with paper mâché and decoupage, sanded between each layer to create a smooth finish with depth of colour.
All my pieces are individual and one-off - as I only work with recycled and reclaimed objects I never know what I am going to find. If you are looking for something particular, please ask - and I'll start looking!
