Mississippi was orphaned as a young cub, and had to be strong and tough to survive. It was touch and go at points, but she had an inner female strength that helped her through. It was a lonely start to life. When she encountered another cub also abandoned she scooped it up, determined to give it what she had not had. She named her Tyra and carried her everywhere, to begin with.

Mississippi was a discarded toy, and is now embellished with collected feathers, textiles, jewellery, dried flower components and beads. She has also been dressed with decoupage, paint and silver leaf. Her baby polar was part of a donation of materials.
