Hadley had the highest, squeakiest voice of any creature in the wetlands. When all the other hippos were grunting and chuntering low noises to each other, Hadley was squawking in a very feathered fashion. Her honking sounded more like a chirp than anything else and attracted feathered friends from all around. Her girth made her an ample perch, and whenever they heard her, the birds came flying over.
The Joy of Unexpected Friends
Part of the Army of Joys Collection
Hadley was a discarded toy, and is now embellished with collected feathers, textiles, jewellery, dried flower components and beads. She has also been dressed with decoupage, paint and silver leaf. Her birds were cake toppers that have also been embellished.
